Description: A good turn out this month. A
tricky event, as you can see from the results with the first team
not getting in until 11:29. John was in a bush on a footpath next
to the M56. The transmitter gave a very strong signal, but
everyone got dodgy bearings, perhaps because he was underneath
some pylons! Approaching from the south was the crucial factor.
The signal was very strong in Bowdon, a mile to the north, where
both Dave Chippendale and Chris Heys abandoned their cars,
thinking the transmitter would be around the banks of the River
Bollin. A driver skidding into the central reservation of the
motorway provided some entertainment for everyone after the last
competitor had got in. Standing on the footbridge, our attempts
to warn on-coming drivers of the hazard were to little avail.
Hardly surprising since we all looked a right load of loonies in
our DF clobber.
