Description: It was a crisp sunny morning.
John Jocys was up to his usual trick of hiding right next to
water, resulting in the usual casualties of some competitors
leaving their cars in the wrong place. John was hidden on the
north of the Manchester Ship Canal, but there was also plenty of
intersecting stretches of water as can be seen on the map below.
Competitors came from all directions. Chris Plummer and John
Heath came the best way in, from the road past the works, west of
the transmission site. Chris Heys hoofed it from Martinscroft,
just off the M6 junction 21. Meanwhile Dave Peacock and mate
Simon left their car on the south side and took the nearby ferry
service across the Ship Canal. Pandemonium broke out on the ferry
as John came on the air when they were half way across! (opportunity
for a double-take perhaps?)
