Description: This was Chris Heys's first DF
operating the transmitter. He thought he'd made it a difficult
DF, hoping the competitors would be tempted into either Moses
Gate country park to the east or Burnden Weir to the west. As it
was everyone came in the easy way and only had to walk 2 minutes
round the lake. Chris also tried to fool everyone by putting up
loads of dummy aerial wire, but this backfired when Chris Plummer
appeared earlier than expected and caught him in the act! Some of
the dummy wire cost Dave Peacock half an hour. Dave first
appeared on site only a couple of minutes after John Heath had
been and gone. He was within inches of Chris, hidden on the
water's edge, but when he spotted some wire tied off on an
adjacent fence, the rest of which Chris had thrown into some
bushes on the opposite side of the river, he decided to get back
to the car and explore the other side, which was in fact
inaccessible.
